We’ve listed the answers to the most common questions we’ve had about these below, if however you have a question that isn’t covered below you can get in touch with us by email at [email protected] or by telephoning our helpline on 0115 876 2700 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

Frequently asked questions

My card isn’t the same colour as it was before.

Over the next 6 months we are reducing the number of different types of Citycard we have from 9 to 2 to make it easier for staff and customers to know what kind of card you have.

My card doesn’t say Kangaroo on it anymore

Previously not all bus operators were able to read our cards smartly. Over the last 12 months we’ve been working with the bus operators to enable them all to read our cards. This means that there is no need to print what product is on the card on the front any more.

My card doesn’t have a photo on it anymore.

If you’re over 18 and pay full price for your travel you no longer need to have a photo on your card.

My card doesn’t have a start or end date on it

Yes, now all cards are read smartly which mean the start and end dates are encoded into the card rather than printed on it. This has the advantage of meaning when you top up your card you don’t need a new one, we just update the card you have with your new ticket.

Is there any change to how I use my card?

Yes, you now need to touch on when you use any bus, tram or train. You can find out more information about using your card here.

Why all the changes?

Changing your card is the first step in delivering our retail network. The retail network will vastly increase the range of places you can top up your card. The new places you will be able to purchase Kangaroo travel will include online, on street ticket machines and over 180 Payzone locations across Greater Nottingham.

The new cards also mean we can introduce clever new features such as pay as you go travel and auto top up. We’ll be talking more about these new features soon so keep an eye on our website or other social media.
